Youtube has a new feature to help video publishers gain exposure and monitor viewers: Insight.

Basically, the new feature provides you with details and statistics about who is viewing your videos, the age group, countries of residence and popularity of particular videos. If you are someone who is using Youtube to gain exposure online and for your business or affiliate products, this could help you greatly. Here are a few screenshots:

Once logged into your youtube account, to access this feature, go to “My Videos.” You should see a list of all of your uploaded videos. On the left-hand side you will see a little box that says:

What’s New: Youtube Insight. Find out who is viewing your video, where they come from and more using Youtube’s new data feature.

Just click to enter and view the stats.

Thanks for pointing this out Holly.

I use Insights for Search all the time since Google introduced it.

Having a similar tool for vids is brilliant! Although my demographic is shoiwing up as 100% female. Surely some mistake there :)

Hi Mark! Thanks for the comment. I didn’t know about the Google Insights tool - very good to know there are more ways to do research online. THANK YOU! I am going to check it out now!

Dig into it a bit Holly and you’ll find that it’s Google Trends on steroids! It’s great for spotting seasonal and new trends, for comparing keywords and markets against ones you already know. And as for anyone doing geo-targeting or local marketing … if they’re not using this tool, they’re missing out big time!

I’ve also been using Insights for Search lately. John Cow wrote a post about it a while ago with some good advice on how to utilize it. Its a big step up from Google Trends and HIGHLY useful.
