Better than WinZIP & Free

One tool that every Internet Marketer needs is a zip file utility, to allow you to archive files or to unzip and extract files. If you have ever purchased a product online, more likely than not you have received a download link that contains a zip file. Not everyone knows what a zip file is - believe it or not - so I will give a brief description and then tell you about this awesome FREE alternative to WinZIP (because WinZIP is not free).
A zip file is basically an archive, which contains a file or files that are compressed. The purpose of this compression and archive creation is to allow an easier method of sending (by e-mail) or downloading or storing data. The method is easier because the compressed files take up much less space than if you were to send the files one by one. This allows grouping of files together in one single zip file.
The Zip format is the most popular compression format used in the Windows environment, and although WinZIP (a commercial software utility popularly used to zip files - price tag is $29.95) is well-known, I have found an alternative that I prefer over the commercial brand.
7-Zip is a compression software tool similar to WinZIP - the main difference is that it is TOTALLY FREE! I have both WinZIP and 7-Zip installed on my computer and I always choose to use 7-Zip over WinZIP. I’ve tested out the two utilities by zipping up and creating archives and I noticed that the 7-Zip archive file was much smaller in size than the WinZIP archive created (which both were comprised of the same files within the archive). When uploading to my websites, I want the smallest file possible and so 7-Zip creates that for me.

I hope this article helps make your online endeavors a little easier.

Thanks for the heads up on 7 Zip. Will let you know how it goes for me. I have been using Win RAR for a long time, and it’s small and very workable, and I do have WinZip, just only use as “Evaluation” and I love seeing the day number tally rack up.
I really appreciate this post. I had actually just recently been searching for something like this.
