Princess of Thailand in Chiang Mai

Yesterday Josh and I were out eating dinner in our old neighborhood. After eating, we stepped outside of the restaurant and looked up to see hundreds of people lined up along both sides of the road, standing tall, looking straight ahead. There were police all around as well. Then someone told me the Princess would be driving by within the next few minutes. Josh didn’t really understand that so he kept running around (which is pretty bad/disrespectful)
but within a few minutes, dozens of black vehicles zoomed past us at insanely fast speeds and that was it. It seems so dangerous that they would drive by so quickly. I wonder if they have ever been in an accident. I’ve seen this before, out where my new home is - one day I was at a red light and I was stuck there for about 10 minutes. I figured maybe there was an accident up ahead, but then I saw those black cars whipping by us. I’m not sure who it was in the vehicles, but some member of the Royal Family.
Lastly, I saw the King of Thailand one time in Bangkok. I was only 17 years old and there was a big celebration along the Chao Phraya River. I watched as the Suphannahongse Royal State Barge cruised past, as we sat a restaurant on the River. The King
drove by with his caravan and I remember everyone kneeling as they zoomed by us. It was exciting! There is so much respect for the Royal Family here. The people love, appreciate and adore them. Every city in Thailand is adorned with large images of the King & Queen. I love that in almost every picture of King Bhumibol, he has a big camera strapped around his neck. It’s obvious he loves the people. Every Monday (if you are ever visiting Thailand) you will see that everyone is dressed
in a bright yellow shirt that says, “Long Live the King,” on it. It’s become a tradition to wear it and show your support of the King.
<<This is my favorite picture of the King!
