State of Emergency Thailand

Blood and smoke filled the streets of Bangkok today. Thailand’s Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has announced that the country is in a State of Emergency. Rioting protesters led by the People’s Republic for Democracy (PAD) faced violent opposition with the pro-government supporters. The PAD claims that Samak is covering up for the old Prime Minister Taksin, and even attempting to amend the Constitution so Thaksin does not have to face any charges.

My thoughts on all of this - I’m thankful I am not in Thailand!!! Josh and I left the country several days ago, prior to all of the violence sparking up. Thankfully we left when we did, as thousands of people were stuck in the country, as airports had been shut down. Dozens of people have been injured, and one died. The protesters have camped out at the Government compound. They’ve made themselves “at home” and created a place for prayer/shine, an emergency medical tent and a cafeteria of sorts - all outside of the Government House.

There has been so much turmoil in the world lately, and I wish I could write more about where we are at right now but I must save that for later. :)

Here are some images/videos from the riots and protests. It is scary to see such violence.

Yes, I seen that on the news yesterday Holly. Wow, it sure makes me feel better that you are not any where near all of that right now. I hope things settle down soon.

Thanks Anna and Davin! Good timing for sure! :) It is scary to see such chaos. I heard the rioters have taken over and are closing down all transportation methods. Scary!

Never a dull moment in your life Holly. I am glad you are not there. Does this happen often in Thailand? I was reading a little of the news which stated these types of riots began in Jan of this year. Its very disturbing to watch the footage.
I am glad you and Josh are safe. Hopefully it will end soon.

Thanks guys, I am glad we are out too. This did happen before (not sure if it was this violent) two years ago (with the overthrow of Thaksin, the old Prime Minister). It seems this time that the people have really setup camp and plan to be protesting and fighting for a while. It is scary to see such violence. The current PM said that people should not or could not post images or videos in public, so people would not become alarmed with the situation. But obviously no one listed to that, because the news in Thailand and abroad are showing the violence and fighting. I hope things settle down.

Glad to hear you and Josh are okay. I thought about you when I heard what was going on last night.
Keep your head up, eyes open and as usual, stay safe.

It seems to me that the Lord keeps harm from you in many different ways. Your angel is working hard. I am very glad to hear you are not over there right now. Stay safe, my friend and give Josh a kiss on the forehead for me.

    Holly,

I’m so glad you and your Son are safe and out of that area of instability.

I’ve never met you but feel bonded with you thru my experiences with Honest Riches, etc. I would hate it and feel disturbed if I knew something unfortunate had happened to you.

I’m so glad you and your wonderful Son are just fine!!

Thanks Link :) I am happy we are safe too! We are actually living in the states now! I couldn’t post that earlier because today I am surprising my dad by “bumping” into him in Las Vegas. My brother’s taking him to Vegas for his 60th birthday and he has no idea we are here. We’ll be seeing him in about an hour! :) Thanks for caring so much and it’s unfortunate what has happened. There is a lot more to the story and I will share that later! Take care!!!

Your destiny is to be where you are now in life.
    Away from turmoil and confusion.

To be with loved ones and people like us who care.

Your our Priceless Possession that cannot be replaced.

I salute the divinity that protects and watches over you.

For now I can rest without anguish and despair knowing that you are both safe and sound.

Always know that you will never be alone in times of trouble as we are always here for you.

All you have to do is ask!

    …meanwhile a little boys waits….
