Romance In Las Vegas?
Do you know how romantic the Las Vegas locals are? Well I will share an example for entertainment purposes. While swimming at the pool with my son and some friends, one of my neighbors (who was intoxicated) stated to everyone that if he were married, he’d leave his wife for me. Wow! lol. Without considering my thoughts on the subject – he continued on explaining why he felt the way he did. My response to him was “Wow, now that’s romantic.” I laughed, and said that I was happy to be single.
So, why in the world would I share that on my Internet Marketing blog. Well, I knew the title of the blog post would grab your attention.
And, I also wanted to share some of the personal details of my life. My son and I have been living in Las Vegas for about 10 months now. Many people have visited Las Vegas, but not many people have seen or experienced what it’s like to live here as a local. There are a lot of “characters” where I live at – and it amazes me daily to get to know each one more. Although we’re in a huge city, I feel as though I live in a small town. Most of the areas and subdivisions in Las Vegas are in gated communities. They are not just for the wealthy, but the average person as well. I don’t know why there are so many gated communities – but there are.
My neighbor Paul, who was previously a TV news anchor in Arizona, decided to use his experience with the television industry – to make a reality show out of our lives here in our community. He and I came up with the idea as we were joking around, and at first I didn’t know how serious he was about pursuing this and getting this started. So we both started filming with our own camcorders (at the pool), and have caught a lot of interesting events, drama, friction and fun times here where we live. I came up with the name “Villa Vegas” for our reality show – which will expose the true stories and lives of locals here. We’re working on the editing of some clips right now, but as soon as it is done we’ll put the first episode online on youtube. To be notified, please subscribe to my RSS feed.
Some of the characters or the people who will be in the show are in my pictures which I’ve uploaded into the gallery below. Feel free to take a look. Don’t worry I’m not giving up my marketing career to run around with my camcorder all day long. We’re mostly filming on weekends at the pool. If by chance this were to get picked up and made into a “real” reality show – then it would be really strange to live here! lol.

Well it all makes sense now Holly- with the drama comments about what happens at the pool. You must have a regular Melrose Place going on in your community, lol. I think the reality show you and Paul are doing will be extremely interesting and entertaining. I can definitely relate to how all the subdivisions have their own culture. It’s SO crazy where I live. In reality my city has a higher than normal crime rate. In my neighborhood people are maybe overly paranoid. If there is even a teenager riding down the road on a bike people send BOLO emails out (be on the look out) for this person in case a car or house gets broken into.
The pool incident with your drunk friend must have been flattering but also a little embarrassing too! A long time ago at the beach I did something similar and it was very embarrassing for me. I was playing cards with some people and was sitting beside a girl I really liked. I was very distracted and not paying attention to the game when she tapped my leg to let me know it was my turn. Since I wasn’t paying attention I took it the wrong way and tapped her back on the leg. When I looked up everyone was laughing, lol! I was so embarrassed but it’s funny to think about now anyway:)

That is so funny Jerry! It sounds like you completely understand the drama as you live in a place that has it as well. It’s funny at times. The comment from the guy at the pool wasn’t that flattering! LOL. He wouldn’t stop talking about that and related thoughts and feelings. So it was more uncomfortable than anything.

Hi Holly
Thanks for sharing with us parts of your day to day life and it is nice to see you are having fun as well.
Josh also looks like he is having a great time.
You know, as we walk through life, we never know what we may come upon next and the fun of the journey, is another life experience.
I have two plagues on my dining room wall. One says “Life is a journey, not a destination” and the other says “Every day holds the possibility of a miracle”.
You would be surprised how many times this has been true from I arrived in California almost five years ago.
I have been in Vegas about five times for long weekends and I agree, this is “Character City”!!
Thanks again for sharing with us.
Kind regards
Tom

Wow! Reminds me of the time in college when a guy in my night physics class told me flat out that he wanted me to be the mother of his children…he actually asked me seriously! And this was the first time he had ever spoken to me. I was only about 20 years old. Needless to say I had someone act as my bodyguard and walk me to my car every night as he would follow me around. You just never know who you are going to meet! It is definitely an uncomfortable situation.
I cant wait to see the Las Vegas “pool drama” on video. I’m sure it will be entertaining to say the least!

Jenna that is so funny! Wow someone asking you to mother their future children. It takes a lot of guts to say something like that to another person.

Haha, Jenna that’s to funny! I remember many years ago I’d hear comments like that come out of some of my friends mouths at times to some girls. They would feel quite serious about it to…although …never knowing the girl prior. I’d be…..”your can’t say that bud, what are u nuts?”
haha. …oh it was funny though…back in the day…..some funny experiences, and times…

Hi Matt. That’s great! Las Vegas is such a popular destination. It’s kind of fun to live here for that reason – most of my relatives would love to visit here.
I’ll keep you posted about the reality show!
And Ian – it’s so great to see you stopping by here! Ian sometime you should come out to a marketing event here.
