Randy Pausch Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Posted on 27. Jul, 2008 by TheDavinator in Inspirational People

I woke up this morning to a message in my inbox to watch this video. The message was that it will really inspire you. I thought to myself, “Yeah ok, I could use a little inspiration this morning.” The last little while I’ve been having a bit of a tough time accomplishing as much as I’d like to get done in a day, so I thought it would be good for me to watch. You know, get that little eye of the tiger happening.

This video is very powerful and it talks about the very important lessons in life. It was exactly what I needed this morning to remind me a little bit about some of the things that truly matter in life, and it made the little things that were bothering me seem so unimportant. When I find things that inspire me, I sometimes like to share them with Holly. I’m not really sure why, I guess it’s because she has done a lot to inspire me to try and keep moving ahead, even when I feel I can’t. In return I guess I like to send her things once in a while that I think will inspire her.

I was actually just going to point Holly towards it, but then I felt that I bet some of her readers would really enjoy it as well. It’s long but please take the time to watch it through to the very end. It’s near the end when we can truly appreciate the real messages that Randy Pausch is trying to get across to people in his last speech he’d ever made for people. This will truly touch you, and I hope Holly enjoys it, as well as her readers.

Hmmm, What link Kathy. You mean to tell me you can’t see that big YouTube video sitting above. I’ve watched it on the site already just to make sure it worked fine. It’s right in plain view for me here?

Wow, that has got to be the strangest thing. I just put some vids on my blog this morning myself, and they work in both IE and FF. I did it exactly the same way on Holly’s blog, so I’m not sure what that issue is. Wierd….ho hum..well I hope most people can see it?

Davin – thank you so much. I am going to watch is now before I start my day. ;) And, I can see the video above. Sometimes if people don’t have flash installed or activex it doesn’t work – but they usually get prompted to install it. I’m not sure if that is the problem. I can see it though. I will email you Davorski and comment after I watch it! THANK YOU it is much needed. take care.

Davin – I Just finished watching the entire video. I woke up at 5 am this morning and it was perfect as I had time to watch it. THANK YOU. That was inspirational and Randy Pausch was amazing. I hope everyone watches this. :) I even took little notes during the video. Here are some good pieces of info I took note of:
“Brick walls are not there to stop you. They are there to stop the people who don’t want something bad enough.”

“Never lose the child-like wonders.” “Don’t complain, just work harder.” “Listen to feedback.”

THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVIN. I found Randy’s old webpage here: http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/ with more videos and resources that he recommended.
Here is more information (news feeds) about Randy

Hey Holly and Kathy, I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. Yeah I found all sorts of great messages in it. (”If you aren’t seeing good in some people, just give it more time.”) is in their one cool message I thought. I also like the way he was talking about the important things like karma, honesty, loyalty etc. Then in the end he did the “head fake”, stating that it just wasn’t just for the students and faculty but was really a talk for his kids! That was great. Really touching when he wished his wife Happy Birthday there to. Anyways, great messages and it sort of reminds people and the important things. Really glad you liked it Holly and Kathy….hope it inspired you!

    Take care

    Hey Davin,

Can’t see anything but a large white area where the video should be..it’s unfortunate, would have loved to view The Last Lecture ..and have it on our forum..

I’d have to say that Randy Pausch is one of the five most inspiring people I’ve ever heard speak. Saw him on 20/20 months ago when he was interviewed by Diane Sawyer.. I found myself mesmerized, viewing The Last Lecture over and over again when I was feeling down..boy does it put your life in perspective!

So tragic that he’s gone.. but what a legacy he’s left for his kids.
(If you can figure out how I can view it here, please let me know ..I’ve got vista)Thanks Davin

Well it’s unfortunate it’s not showing up for people. It will work in Firefox for you, but if you don’t have that here is a direct link on YouTube. If people have to go there to watch it though, please come back and leave your comments on Holly’s blog if you liked it and found some good messages in it. I’m not sure what is up with it not showing up in Internet Explorer here for people.

    Here’s the link guys….
