Holly,

I am so glad you are back posting and back to your true roots, "honesty in marketing". Not that you really ever left it. I wish you and your son the best 2010 and beyond.

I do have to say that I really don't visit the forum any longer since, to me anyway has become commercialized with that added team.

God Bless,
Jeff

Hey my sister :) Jacinta! :) I am so glad to see you stop by here! I know it's been a while. I love your attitude and little by little I think we can all whittle away at the bad habits. We aren't machines though and it can be so tough sometimes to balance everything - especially with working at home. No boss to tell you what to do - and I think people are used to getting and following orders. I noticed if I have a freelance job to do for someone, I end up putting in 150% until it is completed, usually way early and if I put that much effort into my own websites at times, I know the result would be major. So, I have some of the bad habits too. But, like you said, this year is going to be awesome and I wish you nothing but success and happiness

Wow Garry - very insightful truth you've shared here. You are right! I think sometimes people underestimate what they can do and what they can learn. I understand how overwhelming it can be, at any age, for a person to embark into the online marketing. My mom, for example, was not at all familiar with the computer and she didn't know how to attach photos and download zip files, etc. She wanted to get into online marketing and she was very flustered - VERY overwhelmed. She would get so upset that something didn't make sense or it wasn't working or she didn't understand - and it was all so new to her. But the great thing is that she didn't give up. I think she took breaks from it to recover from the learning, but shortly after she had her own wordpress blog and understood all about it and most other marketing methods. So it may take some people longer and others may just "get it" right away - but if you seek help, tutorials, guides or a mentor - you can pursue online marketing.

When I look at my son, he thinks he can accomplish anything and the world is a playground to him. I try to teach him that with hard work and learning, anything is possible and I do believe it. If we can try to keep the attitude and openness of a child into our adult years, that love of learning and trying new things really really helps in this online marketing field. It is pretty much necessary that you can continually handle learning and adapting - to make it with marketing. Anyway, I love what you wrote Garry and definitely agree with it. I really hope 2010 is a wonderful year for all of us.

Indeed Holly. Thanks for the powerful insight. I can't remember who said but it struck a chord: "Nothing worthwhile is ever easy" - at least in the beginning. Hope that the many who read from you will have a renewed mind. A renewed perspective and reality that anything can be achieved is what I believe to be the first step to our freedom.

Have a great New Year Everyone!!!

Me.Give up.Never.Just too darn stubborn..
My main problem is still staying focused.Distractions make for good excuses but mindset should be able to overcome this.
People like you, Davin, and Irish Tom and Garry D., along with only a few others have become my inspiration to continue onward and upward. My successes may be small but are more and more frequent. A really good sign of still better things to come.
Your topic is very timely and I thank you for it.The format you use is quite unique to you and uplifting in spirit.May your friendships continue in their fullest for inspiration to you and to others and may you find more friendships in the year hence.

Hi Holly,

Great Post! And boy can I relate to it! :( However 2009 was better than 2008 and I am sure 2010 will be better still! :)

Considering I first bought your book back in 2007, I am moving along slowly. Yes I have been sidetracked by the latest Guru product and yes I have wasted a LOT of money on crap! However it has all been a learning experience and one I do not regret.

In 2010 I now know how to create a blog from scratch, create an ebook, create a mini site and I am now an active blogger. In the new year I want to learn about list building, traffic generation and SEO.

I do believe I am on the right path and I would like to thank you. It was your book back in 2007 that got me excited to change my future for my daughter. You have been one of my inspirations!

I hope you have had a great festive season. :)

See you back here soon! :P

Great article with great timing Miss Mann! Life is all about relationships on so many levels. And those relationships and the people we interact with can be what keeps us commited to our dreams and what inspires us to remain focused.

I can well relate to what Annie said. I believe life is a journey and not a destination. And how you get somewhere is as important as where you are going.

“People Will Forget What You Said, People Will Forget What You Did, but People Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel.”

Happy 2010!

Holly,

You hit the nail on the head with all my bad habits:0 I started off 2009 heading in the right direction and then did exactly what you stated, paying attention to all the flashy sites and new products that come along.

In the beginning, I paid attention to those whom I respected and trusted and then got sidetracked. I intend to get back on track in 2010 and thanks to this post I am even more motivated.

Being overwhelmed can cause doubt which was what was happening to me, I even thought of quitting. I then remembered one mentor saying to me when I started with an MLM company, "if you could work extremely hard for a year or two to have it pay off in the long run would you do it?" I said yes and the residual checks keep coming.

So I thank you so much for this post and I am going to focus on the people I trust to learn more from in 2010 including you, Davin, Anna, and a few more.

Have a Happy New Year!

Thank you for always being there for me, even though I have not been in contact lately. You will always be a great friend and hope 2010 is an incredible year for you!

Great post Holly!

I think learning to work online is like Jello...it just takes a while for it to firm up!

Patience is such an important part of learning anything, IM being no exception. When it feels like forward progression is at a standstill, don't give into feeling like you might as well walk away...stand your ground with yourself and wait for your 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th wind.

Building an online business is, afterall, a journey. Enjoy the experience and trust that when you find your final destination, you'll know it....but, not if you quit before you get there!

Dream-Build-Succeed....The time is now!

Happy 2010!

Great post Holly . . .and good to see you back.

I am a BIG believer is perseverance. The need to commit and recommit constantly.

One quality (of many) I see that truly divides the successful from the unsuccessful: Too many people approach something new with, "I don't know how to do that." or even "I can't do that." The successful turn it around to "How can I learn to do that?" or "How can I do that?"

Successful people ask questions in the face of the unknowns. Whittle away and increase what they know.

Commitment, discipline and learning . . . qualities that must be constant. Once we embrace it, there is plenty of room for fun and creativity.

I've always said that to be serious does not mean that we have to be "heavy" or "morose" In fact the more "Light" we bring in, the easier it is to see.

That balance. Total commitment while trusting and enjoying. What magic that is when it comes together!!

Thanks again Holly.

Good luck y'all. Do well and good in 2010. Smell them roses and believe in yourself!

Commitment, discipline and learning . . . qualities that must be constant. Once we embrace it, there is plenty of room for fun and creativity.

I’ve always said that to be serious does not mean that we have to be “heavy” or “morose” In fact the more “Light” we bring in, the easier it is to see.

That balance. Total commitment while trusting and enjoying. What magic that is when it comes together!!

Thanks again Holly.

Good luck y’all. Do well and good in 2010. Smell them roses and believe in yourself!
