I usually don't share my specific story (somewhat embarrasing) but I felt the need to chime in to speak of the faithfullness of God. The Lord has been in my life for many years but I never came to "know" Him until I went through an extremely difficult time in my marriage. Almost 3 years ago, I found out my husband and I were having our first child and shortly thereafter, I also became aware that he was cheating. We had been having problems in our marriage (I was a big part of the problem) but I never thought I'd end up in such a mess. I grew up in a happy home; I was an only child raised by my father who after a divorce, gained custody of me when I was toddler from an alcoholic mother. My dad was dad and my mom; he was and still is a great guy and I love him dearly. I didn't have family drama so to find myself in a situation with my husband and this other lady was DEVASTATING. To try and make a long story short, I decided to stand for my marriage mainly because of my unborn child. I asked the Lord and continually cried out to Jesus to bring my husband back home emotionally and spiritually. In the midst of all of this, I was dealing with a woman that went to the police and falsely accused me of things I didn't do (she put a warrant out for my arrest); she left notes and other things on my door step and constantly stopped by my house to create trouble. All of this was happening while I was pregnant. Listen up everyone: I'm telling a little bit of my story (it got worse before it got better) because I can attest to what Holly is talking about: RESTORATION THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS. He is a restorer. He restored my marriage and brought my husband back home and He restored Holly's life despite everything she went through as a child. The charges against me were dropped (that was God) and everything she tried to do to me did not prosper. The Lord always reminded me of His word: NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER. And it didn't. By the way, I have since forgiven her (it took some time) and hope that one day she will come to know the love of Jesus; He is no respecter of persons and He loves her just as much as He loves me. Who am I not to forgive? He forgave me for everything that I've done over the course of my own life. This is my favorite scripture (remember my email to you Holly? - I'm Sylvia) and I believe it's for someone who may read this and is looking for encouragement and hope from our loving Father: Jeremiah: 29:-13 For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope. Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will hear you. Definately could become a group of sites - I had that thought in mind too and it's what has made choosing my 'niche' and focus quite difficult for my site. I think I'd like to concentrate on helping people overcome depression, loneliness and general unhappiness mostly (if possible), then have another site with resources and a forum for single parents. But I really want to get in on this joint site too please - and maybe we could create a network of sites and join them together? Love that Kiva site too, that's amazing!
