Cleaning Girl Sleeping in Joshs Bed

I’m sorry but I had to post this - maybe it’s not that funny to anyone else but it was very amusing to me!
Every Saturday my gardener’s daughter who is 14 comes over to my house and cleans it for me. It saves me time and it’s nice to have it thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom once a week. It’s so big that I still clean it every day, sweep and mop it too. Unfortunately she doesn’t clean it so well. I know this. I’m sure she knows this. I haven’t said anything because I know she needs the money but I’m actually going to speak with her next week, or else just tell her not to show up anymore. OK here’s the funny part. Two days ago she arrived and I was downstairs with Josh in my office. She was upstairs for an extremely long time (at least over an hour) and I heard not a single noise (normally I can hear some signs of life so I know she’s doing something up there!). I actually joked with Josh and asked him to go up there and see what she was doing but he wouldn’t!!! So I walked up there quietly, glanced around but did not see her. I looked into Josh’s room again and saw that she was sleeping on his bed! I thought it was pretty funny, didn’t get angry or anything like that and the thought of it still makes me smile for some reason. It’s just something I think you’d only see in Thailand! I let her sleep and I went downstairs to play with Josh some more. She finished “cleaning” a while later, and after leaving I cleaned some more!

This is the cutest. I would have probably reacted the same way. I’d feel sorry for her lol. My son would have most likely told me not to wake her anyway he he. That was kind of you not to be angry with her but yeah I think talking to her about the quality of work has to be done.

Haha very funny, ok having said that I completely agree with the fact that you need to address her on the quality. I have worked with teenagers myself, in actual fact apprenticed several of them who had dropped out of school and were headed the wrong direction in life. I have always taken a very straightforward approach with them. Luckily it is very hard to get me “mad” about honest mistakes, and as such they have provided me with some of the most memorable funniest moments.
But at the same time, I never have let them get away with a job “not well done”. I don’t get mean or anything, I simply critique the job, from a professional viewpoint and let them know whether its a passing standard or not. And if needed I educate and help to get to a passing standard. But I never let them get the idea that a below standard job is acceptable. But as stated before I never get mean about it. I simply tell them whats wrong and ask them if they would pay for a service not well done.
Sometimes it takes a little more explaining than others, but you should see the pride on their faces when they do a job well.
Of course it can be taken to extremes, but that is not what I am getting at. Sometimes its done almost right and could have been done better, well in that case i simply tell them it looks fine, but next time they can improve by doing such and such.
Operating this way, I have managed to get several youngsters “back on the rails” and gained some real friends in the process.
I think by helping the person to do something right, you are assisting them and teaching them how to be successful in life, as later on if they have to make it in a “competitive sphere” they will not make it if they produce a “below quality” service or product. But I think its best done in a friendly, straightforward and honest fashion.
Yeah. I can attest to that. The person who left that comment never lets me get away with ANYTHING.
But it’s definitely more acceptable to have your mistakes brought up to you by someone who honestly wants to help you improve, as opposed to just looking for something to criticize.
