Blog Redesign & Tips for Finding the Right Theme

Feedback on New Theme & Redesign Appreciated
Today I purchased a new wordpress-theme, tweaked it for my blog here and totally changed the look and feel of this website. If anyone has any thoughts, opinions or advice, please share in the comments section. All feedback is appreciated. I am still working on fixing several thing and adding new features – but until then, if you have any suggestions I am open to them.
I’ve been meaning to change the look and feel of HonestHolly.com for some time now, but with no success until today because I wanted a really modern, clean design, that had tabbed widgets (to put a lot of things in a little space) and I believe I’ve accomplished it with this theme. I also wanted to keep my header image the same. The theme I chose was created by WooThemes – and it is called: Busy Bee. It has a ton of features and built-in functions that I love, and it was only $35 dollars. Basically they have an ongoing deal if you buy one (for $70) you get one theme free.
Tip to Getting the Exact Theme & Functionality You Want
When you’re browsing websites online, if you have some experience with WordPress, you can usually spot a WordPress-based website. If you really love the layout and design of a particular website that you are browsing, and you would like to know if you could get the same theme online, there are several things you can do to find out: how the website was created and if a particular theme was used (so you can get the same one or one similar).
When browsing the website you are interested in, right click with your mouse on the blank space of the page of the website. Then hit: “view page source.”You will then see a window popup with a lot of code. You will need to do a search (CTRL+F) to find: www.domain.com/wp-content/themes/xxxxx (replace domain with the domain you are viewing, and xxxxx with the name of the theme you see). So basically, when you find www.domain.com/wp-content/themes/ – then the xxxxx will be the name of the particular wordpress theme that was used to create the website. If you do not see that anywhere in the code, that means the website was not created with wordpress. You can still peer around in the code to find out what scripts were used to make the site function the way it does and what program was used to create it. If you discover it was created with wordpress and xxxxx is the name of the theme, then go to google and type the name of that theme in the google search engine to find out if it is free or must be purchased, and to get full details about it. From there, you can buy it or download it and use it on your own site, customizing it to your needs.
When browsing some really nice wordpress-websites, I sometimes look at the code to reveal exactly what plugins are used. I do the same thing as searching for the theme but rather search for: www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/xxxxx. Then I can use those plugins on my website! I hope this little tip has helped you!

Dear Holly,
The new look and setup of your blog is just great.
It’s very ‘clean’, uncluttered and more functional with a modern appeal.
You are one talented lady!
Well done and God bless.
Best regards from Malta.

Hi Stephen!
Thanks for the comment. How is the weather in Malta? I lived in Sliema before – a couple of years ago for a few months. It was beautiful on the Mediterranean.
Thanks for the comment about the blog design. I am happy to hear feedback!

Hi Holly
As a newbie to your site and having bought and am studying your “Honest Riches” book, I am very impressed with your way of doing business and helping others.
I love the new theme blog page and it has given me an idea.So clean and modern and easy to follow.
My goal is to use your services to set up 2 new web sites on the basis of Niche reviews. Will contact you very soon.
I will certainly need your help and of course a “Honest Riches” banner on each will be a prerequisite.
Keep up the good work Holly and I am looking forward to your next venture.
Best wishes from Fresno,CA (and previously Ireland)

Hey Holly,
It’s my first time here and my first impressions were good. Busy Bee is a nice easy on the eye theme and you have implemented your elements nicely into it.
Only thing I would say is that I can see some jog compression in the header and also the coloring is slightly off on your photo on the right… Nothing major, just a small thing.

Hi Forest,
Thank you very much for your advice and info about the jpg compression. To me, it looked fine but I will check into the quality and try to find the original so I can fix it up to look nicer. I really appreciate the advice.
