Banker Hands Out $60 Million from His Wallet

Here is a little inspiration for this Monday Morning…
Longterm employees of Miami-based City National Bancshares, were shocked when they received $60 million dollars in unexpected bonuses recently. After selling a majority stake, Leonard Abess Jr. decided to surprise his faithful employees with their massive bonuses, some over $100,000.00. In a time in which the economic situation is feeble, an act of selflessness such as this, is rare.
When asked, Abess said, ”Those people who joined me and stayed with me at the bank with no promise of equity — I always thought some day I’m going to surprise them,” he said. “I sure as heck don’t need [the money].”

Yeah, I read that one too Holly. Incredible isn’t it?
What a rare bird he is ..few and far between. With the greed that’s been so prevalent on Wall Street, Mortgage Banking and the Madoffs of our time, you almost expect to be screwed if you’re the little guy. So much trust..
Well, thankfully these employees were from a generation not as jaded as we are, giving decades of service and that unconditional loyalty that
paid off with the grand prize in this employer.
If Mr. Leonard Abess could only clone himself, this would truly be a utopian existence…and a lot less competition online;)

That is a great story! Thank you for posting it. I love to see stories of people who are actually doing something to make a difference. There are so many great stories like this. Actually I created a little blog a while ago and have not had time to work on it, but I recently had the idea of creating it as a place where people could post their stories of what they or someone else has done to make the world better. (If anyone is interested in contributing a guest post, drop me a line!)
It always makes me happy to see people rewarded for their work. I loved this line – “I sure as heck don’t need [the money].”

I love your blog idea Anna. We are all a part of life together and sometimes the smallest things you do for someone else have a huge impact. The thing that guy did, was huge. But even the small things can mean a lot and have a life-long impact on the world.
