March 27 , 2008 - Wonderful News for Photoshop Fans (who can’t afford the software)

Adobe Systems Incorporated announced Adobe® Photoshop® Express public beta, a free Rich Internet Application (RIA) available to anyone who would like to use the feature-rich service. It was just released to the public and is currently only available to people residing in the United States. According to the Adobe Press Room, the plan is to have it available worldwide. At this time, however, if accessed by people residing in coutnries outside of the USA, services could be a bit slow. (I’m in Thailand, signed up and used it. It was a little slow at times but not a major issue).

Features Include:

• Editing Capabilities include: cropping and resizing, removing blemishes and red-eye, converting to black and white, adjusting light levels, distortions of the image and much more.
• Uploading and Sharing Photos in your own online gallery hosted by Photoshop (for example, http://hollymann.photoshop.com)
• All photos or galleries you create will have multiple options for you to be able to link, embed or upload to your favorite websites
• Animated Slide Shows and image special affects options

My Personal Take:

I signed up for the service today so that I could be more informed to share these details with readers. Sign-up was simple and I immediately began uploading images. I was extremely impressed with the image editing features. Although simple, the results were outstanding. The 2 images I uploaded were taken outside of my home in Thailand. I thought the lighting was great to begin with and liked the images. After using the editing tools (playing around and testing out every tool) I realized how simple this online service made it for regular users to really create professional photos and improve image quality and appearance.
